Perception and the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

I agree with the correlation and possible causation between perception and a self-fulfilling prophecy. Like many instances, a self-fulfilling prophecy is driven by perception in the first place. When someone has a belief about something due to his perception, his belief will lead him to act in a way which reinforces this belief, and thus making it "come true".

It is very likely then that negative behaviour might be caused by a certain perception and that this perception lead a person to behave in accordance so that the negativity performs itself. It is very true that when a police has a certain perception as to what type of person would be categorised as deviant, he would, in all likelihood, discover them because more attention is being paid to these group of people which in turn is caused by his perception in the first place.

Going back therefore, if a person keeps focusing on the negative aspects of their lives, then the negativity will materialise itself, reinforcing the belief that live is all negative.

An application of sociology to my daily life. haha
